How To Link Within The Same Page – WordPress Help

This WordPress Tutorial answers this question: “May I know how I can add a hyperlink to the same wordpress page? For example, to save the viewer of the trouble of having to scroll to the bottom of the page to view the desired content, can I add a link at the top of the page so that when he click the link he can immediately go to the bottom of the page?” -Wong Miss

Sorry, Youtube will not allow me to place the HTML codes here. So put them on my blog on this page:

  1. Thanks, Martin, it helped. However, may I know the reason for adding '#' prior to the anchor? Is it for the user to stay on the same page after clicking the hyperlink?

  2. Thanks a lot. Works great. I struggled to find out how to do this until i found your video. To solve the fact that it jumps down past the title. Just put the anchor above the title. Don't include the Title in the anchor.

  3. It's too late question. Yet, how can I get different <a href = ….> code for each section. Shall I add it myself, or Shall I add a different text box for each section? Please excuse my ignorance since I'm a beginner student in this wonderful world who is trying to learn from your experience.

  4. I watched the video, followed all instructions, pasted in code, and it did not work for me. Instead of skipping to the desired section (which is on the same page), I get a message that says:

Oops! That page cannot be found.
It looks like nothing was found at this location. Maybe try searching for it?

I have no idea what I am doing wrong. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

  5. Please may i know how to link sections of my page to particular sub tabs on the Menus, for example My services page, i do not want to have different service pages for my services, i have all my services on a page in sections more or less div if your operating in HTML so how do i link the sub tabs to those particular sections on the services page?

  6. nice, but this code is pretty inefficient and confusing… # is for `id`.
    try this:
    <a href="#pointX">click here for pointX<a>
    <h3 id="pointX"> pointX </h3>
here the `#` and the `id` establish the link.
    hope this helps!

  7. Perfect. I found the html code on a few other pages but couldn't make it work until your video confirmed the placement of each code on the WordPress page which was about 2:25 in the video so I tried it and it worked perfectly! Thanks.

  8. Hi, Just wanted to post real quick to say thank you! I am not able to adjust the overshooting or to anchor from the bottom back up to the top right now, but at least I know how to do it. Thanks again for your sharing your knowledge and have a nice day.

  9. Hi there, when creating the page jumps, is it possible to create the jump without cutting out the title also? For example within this video you had #Point 6 linked but it cut out the heading when you clicked on it. I'd like the jump to include the heading also.

  10. How does YouTube make there videos open up in the same tab but different url I'm trying to do the same so when a person on my website click on one of my videos it opens up in the same tab but not on the same page he clicked the video on I want him to be directed to another page so I can add a comment section just like YouTube hope it this made sense
